What an incredible six days photographing BMW Joy Days at The Langham Gold Coast.
This was definitely one of those events that reminded me why I love corporate event and conference photography so much.
BMW dealers, dealership owners and marketing managers travelled from across Australia and New Zealand to the Gold Coast for six days of drive experiences, new vehicle launches, conference sessions and evening cocktail events. There was so much happening throughout the week and so much variety to capture.
BMW Drive Experience on the Gold Coast.
The week started with an experience drive, giving guests the opportunity to get behind the wheel and experience BMW’s latest vehicles for themselves.
The drive took us from The Langham Gold Coast through the Gold Coast hinterland to The Beechmont Hotel, giving us some incredible locations to photograph the vehicles along the way.
I absolutely love photographing automotive events like this because it’s about so much more than getting great photos of the cars.
It’s capturing the whole experience — the guests getting behind the wheel, reactions to the new vehicles, conversations between dealers, BMW branding, beautiful locations and all those candid moments that tell the story of the day.
And, of course, having a fleet of beautiful new BMWs to photograph doesn’t hurt!
Evening Cocktail Events at The Langham Gold Coast
After the drive experience, everyone returned to The Langham for an evening cocktail event.
The event spaces looked incredible, with all of the event lighting by Dreamweavers.
Good event lighting makes such a difference to photography, and these spaces photographed beautifully.
Six Days of Conference Photography
The following days included conference sessions, presentations and new vehicle information, with different groups moving through the BMW Joy Days experience throughout the week.This is one of the reasons I genuinely love multi-day conference photography.
When you’re there across several days, you get to capture the entire event rather than just a few hours of it.
The big moments are important — speakers on stage, presentations and new vehicle launches — but I also love capturing everything happening around them.
The conversations between sessions. The audience reactions. People reconnecting over coffee. Branding and venue details. Guests experiencing something for the first time.
By the end of a multi-day corporate event, you have a gallery that tells the complete story of the experience.
Over the six days, we photographed everything from BMW’s latest vehicles and driving experiences through to conference sessions, networking, branding and evening cocktail events.
I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of BMW Joy Days and trusted to capture such an important event for the brand.
I really do love photographing large corporate events like this. Being there from the beginning and watching everything come together over several days is something pretty special.
